Tinahely Senior

AND WE ARE BACK FOR MORE FOR 2010

The Ladies resumed training on Wednesday 3rd February for what will be a very tough season ahead under the watchful eye of Martin Fitzgerald who takes over the reigns for the 2nd year.  We are delighted to have Martin back for yet another year as he did fantastic work with the Ladies team last year and we have high hopes for the season ahead.  The Ladies won the Junior Championship and League in 2009 which was a great achievement.  Well done Ladies. The Ladies now go up to Senior Ranks where they have been aiming for.  This will be a very tough and challenging campaign for the ladies but they are prepared to put in the hard yards to get off to winning ways.  At present we have a panel of 24 players and are always looking for new recruits to our team so if your interested in playing football please do not hesitate to contact one of the players or you can also contact Caroline Dunne on 087 9541792.

REMEMBER THIS IS A SEASON THAT IS FULL OF HIGH HOPES WITH A VERY DETERMINED PANEL OF LADIES BUT WE NEED YOU THE SUPPORTERS TO HELP AND ENCOURAGE US TO VICTORY.  WE NEED AS MUCH SUPPORT AS POSSIBLE THIS YEAR BOTH ON AND OFF THE FIELD SO DONT FORGET TO KEEP AN EYE TO OUR WEBSITE FOR FIXTURES OR THE SPORTS SECTION OF THE WICKLOW PEOPLE UNDER THE TINAHELY NOTES.

Welcome to the 2009 Season!!

Well I just hope that we have as much luck in 2009 as we did in 2008.  The Tinahely Ladies AGM was held in the Clubhouse on the 30th January.  Not as many in attendance as what we would of hoped for.  Thanks to everyone that attended and for those that took on roles for the forthcoming year.  We hope to have a successfull season this year as we did last year.

Training has begun again....under the management of Martin Fitzgerald.  Martin is doing a fantastic job so far in getting all us girls fit.  Any new players are welcome to attend, please just get in contact with any of the committee to find out about training dates and times.

Just to keep the momentum going, here is the latest picture of us girls with our FOUR Cups which we won last year!!!

Well we are well into the 2009 season and things could not be going better.  Many thanks to Anthony Darcy who sponsored new jerseys for the Ladies team.  Much Appreciated and very much needed.  Once again thanks to the committee who are doing a great job and our trainers Darren and Martin.  We are fighting fit for our forthcoming Championship!

We will now play St Pats in the Championship semi final on the 17th July and hopefully if things go our way we will meet Balintglass in the Final of the Championship on the 16th August!  I am sure we can do it.  We hope to have your support at our matches.

WE DID IT....WE BET ST PATS 2-9 to 2-13. Well done girls!!!  Role on the county final.  Time and venue to be confirmed.  It was a tough physical game but managed to hold out in the final quater to secure a place in the final where we play Baltinglass.  Everyone put in 110% and it paid off!  Thanks to all those who attended the game and supported us, we do hope to see more of you at the final which is deferred until September 13th see notes at end of page.

If anyone would like to help out in keeping the website updated.  Please do not hesitate to contact me on 086 8536046.  We could always use some help!!

Welcome to the 2008 Tinahely Ladies Home Page!

The Ladies Football Club was set up May 2007 by Martin O'Rourke, Helen Mulhall, Ann Kenny and Trish Cush.  Its thanks to these peoples hardwork and commitment that got us off the ground.  All of these people are still involved with the Ladies Club and Junvenile Clubs.  Well done and keep up the hard work.

We currently have 28 players registered and committed to playing Ladies football.  Colm Kenny and Enda Kenny are the current mentors/trainers for the team.  Hard work and dedication of players and mentors seem to of paid off as on the 25th May 2008 the team won their first championship final to become the Junior C Ladies County Champions 2008 in controversial game against Donard Glen in Baltinglass.  The Ladies contiued on the road to success winning the Ellen Kinch Memorial Cup against Arklow which was played in Tinahely on the 28th June 2008 during the opening weekend of the Clubhouse.  The Junior A championship seen the ladies knocked out by St Pats in Aughrim on the 27th July 2008.  After plenty of hard work and training following this game, the ladies where given another opportunity for more silverware in the Junior B County Championship.  Well done to the girls as they defeated Kilcoole in the final of the Junior B County Championship.  This added the fourth piece of silverware to the Ladies cabinet by also topping the 2007/2008 League.

We wish to thank Denis Kinsella of Black Toms, who sponsored the Ladies Jerseys in 2007.  Denis also sponsored sports bags for the Ladies Team in September 2008.  Denis has allowed us Ladies and the Tinahely GAA Club to host many social events in Black Toms to raise money for our club.  A big thanks to Denis for his continued support for our club.

In preparation for the beginning of the Junior C Championship, the committee got together to come up with a fundraising idea to purchase O’Neill Hoody Tops for our team.  We decided to sell tickets to businesses and people giving them a chance to win their company name/logo or their own name printed on the hoody’s.  It was a huge success thanks to everyone who supported us.

Congratulations to Damien Murphy whose name was pulled from the draw and now has 28 ladies wearing fabulous hoody tops sporting the name ‘Murphy’s Victuallers'.  We really looked the part for the Championship Final!
