Brief Histroy - Within the Ladies GAA in Wicklow the minor section of club football has went from strength to strenght a few Tinahely Players combined with Coolkenno and Carnew to make up a team to represent the East District for the last few years until the Juvenile section of the Tinahely Ladies Club really kicked in.  In 2010 Tinahely Ladies Club had team in all age groups from U10, 12, 14, 16 and Senior but no minor team was ever established so the ladies committee got toghether and they reckoned it was worth a shot to get a minior team up and running and get all girls playing first team football within their own club. So the ladies minor team was formed in 2010 under management of Caroline Dunne, Bridget Kenny and Martin Fitzgerald.  Alot of trainings took place over the first few months and with no league competition in the minor section this team had some time to prepare for championship as did all minor teams.

The Minor team started their conquest for glory by beating new commers Cumman Na Mara they then went on to play their once counterparts which was Coolkenno/Carnew who formed the East District and easily dispatched them out of the competition which set up a semi final competition due to the lack of teams in this section.  Tinahely was faced with the very strong and probably fancied "West District" as it was a strong team due to the combination of quiet a few areas including Blessington/kilbride/Valleymount but with a tougher match than what they had previously had to play the Tinahely Ladies beleived in themselves all the way through and went for every ball with a will to win and that tough mental attitude and a strong performace so the ladies in red claim a victory once more to see them through to the final.  Alot of delight in Newtown on that evening from the Tinahely side saw this fantastic Minor team dig deep and focus on what lay ahead in the final, the "South District a combination of St Pats and Eire Og.  Another tough challange for the ladies in red and with the match being played in the County Ground in Aughrim nerves of steel was required.  A tough match with scores exchanged from both sides but the ladies in Red, the team that had came through all the odds, just formed were crowned CHAMPIONS on that great great day for the club.  Emily Mulhall was the captain and she spoke in her speach what a great team this was.  This is a strong team for the future of the ladies club in Tinahely and a team we feel and hope will bring plenty of championships back to the club.

Well done to all concerned with this team who worked hard players and mentors we hope our club continues in its success at all age levels
