In a match where Tinahely proved why they are Junior Champions and a match they wanted to win to complete the season of being undefeated in Wicklow Junior Football and prove they do deserve their chance at Senior level next year. What a season this bunch of women have had and they went out in style in this match determined to finish the season on a high. With a change of venue from Annacurra to Newtown due to Annacurra not being playable after the rain that fell we were lucky with the weather as the rain held off for the match. With our full forward line made up of the 3 L's which consist of Lorraine Dunne, Lucy Mulhall and Laura Hogan taking their scores well and putting the Tinahely side well infront. Tinahely tried not let St Pats get to grips with the game with defence starting at the full forward line leaving St Pats feeling the pressure of the Tinahely dominance. When the ball did break the Tinahely defence put in a powerful display of defending with the Tinahely Ladies piling on the pressure to leave Pats fouling the ball or over carrying on a few accounts. With a great display by Deirdre Healy at full back Aine Byrne half back and Bridget Kenny Tinahely went in at half time on a scoreline of 3-8 to 1-4 where St Pats were awarded a penalty just before the break. The ladies were confident for the second half as they had played against the wind and up the hill in the first half so they had the advantage in the 2nd half however they still had to go and win the match which they did in style the defence stood firm and kept St Pats scoreless in the 2 half and with Lorreta Gilbert, Jackie Kinch and Sarah Hogan getting on the scoresheet it was a great victory for the ladies of Tinahely on a score line of 5-11 to 1-4.
Well done ladies
