With only 5 days to prepare for the 1st round of Leinster it was always going to be tough for the Tinahely side with alot of tired and sore bodies after a very tough battle with Baltinglass the Sunday before. Firstly I would just like to say that this is a great achievement for the Ladies as they are only up and running 3 years. The Tinahely side started well and both Tinahely and St James were very evenly matched trading scores until Laura Hogan managed to break away from a very tight defence after a great ball from Lucy Mulhall and hit the back of James net. The crowd were on their feet and the Tinahely women kept diggin but scores were hard come by with a defence sticking very tight to the Tinahely danger women. Tinahely went in at half time 2 points up 2-4 to 8 points and on the restart it was Lorraine Dunne that put the Tinahely side further ahead with 2 quickly taken points but St James never gave up they kept their head and kept plucking away at their points also and it was not until St James hit the back of the Tinahely net that gave the St James side hope with 5 minutes remaining. Tinahely side were still up by 2 points but with a free converted by the St James side and a goal quickly followed St James went ontop only for the 2 time within the match. The Tinahely ladies tried their hardest to get the ball up the field but they could give no more and with one last free awarded to the St James side it gave them a victory of 3 points. The Tinahely Ladies were very dissappointed as it was the first time they had suffered a competitived defeat this year but the ladies never gave up and gave as much as their bodies could give right till the final whistle. So Ladies be very proud and we look forward to seeing you playing in Senior level next year and we wish you all the best. Well done on your successfull year.
