Tinahely started this match brightly and look the better fitter side of the two. It was Tinahely who was first on the score sheet followed by a Shillelagh point to even the sides. Tinahely then got some fantastic scores along with some good build up play that looked very promising. Unfortunately for Tinahely, Shillelagh hit back always at the right time with a killer blow for Tinahely scoring a goal. At half time Tinahely trailed by a point after 2 goals by Shillelagh. Tinahely keeper Stephen Nolan took a blow and had to be substituded at half time and No 14 Kevin Darcy was then left with the duty of minding the Tinahely net. Brian Hickey came in at full forward to replace Kevin and scored a great point from play right after the throw up in the second half. Tinahely once again look good to finish the game in stlye after taking another couple of fantastic points but once again Shillelagh hit the net twice one of which was from a penalty that was awarded which Darcy made the save but the Shillelagh forwards were first to react to put the rebound in the net. Tinahely had to settle with a draw and share of points with the final score Tinahely 0-16 to Shillelagh 4-4
