It was an evening of weather that would be associated with January with the wind and rain blowing around Aughrim in the first round of the Senior Championship in the local derby between Carnew and Tinahely.  There was alot of play before the first score registered the score board and it was Carnew who were first off the mark.  Tinahely did follow very quickly to equal the sides.  Tinahely probably had majority of the possession but unfortunately a good few errors saw them denied when trying to work the ball into the forward line.  The sides went in level at half time and once again Tinahely started off well but the ball was very difficult to handle and both teams found it difficult to register scores.  Alan Nolan rattled the back of Carnews net to draw level and Tinahely grabbed another point which was followed by a free from Carnew right infont of the posts to draw the match level.  The final whistle came shortly after and Tinahely had to settle for a share of points on a scoreline of 1-5 each
