In the first league fixture of 2009 the ladies kicked off in great fashion in Baltinglass under lights. Tinahely got off to a great start with a goal in the first minute of play by Laura Hogan followed by a great point. The girls put in a heartly performance throughout the match. Baltinglass then registered their first point by a converted free kick followed by a point from play. Hogan then rattled the Balto net once again before Lorraine Dunne converted a point from a free kick. Balto then worked the ball down field and broke through the Tinahely defence and scoring a goal, with both teams trading scores Baltinglass once again hit the back of the Tinahely net. With only 3 points the difference at half time in Tinahelys advantage the Tinahely ladies went out with a will to win and that just what they did with some fine saves from Caroline Dunne in goal and some great scores from the forward line Baltinglass only registered 4 points in the second half 2 from frees. While at the other end of the pitch Laura Hogan added yet another fine point from a Lorraine Dunne free kick bringing Hogans tally to 2.2, Lorraine Dunne also had her scoring boots on converting 3 free kicks and a further 1.1 from play. Also Lucy Mulhall added 2 points to the score board and Jackie Kinch having the last say with a fine point from near the 40 yard line. All in all a great victory for the ladies.
