Dinner Dance with guest speaker Micheal O'Muircheartaigh

Tinahely Dinner Dance took place in the Arklow Bay Hotel on Friday 27th March which proved a massive success with a large crowd in attendance aptly held in the 125th anniversary year of the GAA.  This was a special year for Tinahely where the 1984 team which won the county football title were being honoured.  Also on the night Handballer Joe Cleary was also recognised for his All-Ireland title 50 years ago.  Joe was a mightly handballer and his passion for the game is still as big as ever where he and the Tinahely Handball committee are restoring the alley in Tinahely.  The ladies then took to the floor to receive their silverware.  The ladies had an outstanding year on the field and collected their medals for the Junior C Championship and League, Junior B Championship and Ellen Kinch Memorial Cup.  Caoimhe Bowes received Player of the Year while Jackie Kinch was nominated as footballer of the year.  This momentous night was capped by the fine oratory skills of Micheal O Muirheartaigh who presented the awards.  Micheal had just flew back that afternoon from South Africa after being over there helping on the Niall Mellon project he ended his speach saying "such a momentous night how could I miss it".  It was great to see everyone catching up as people travelled from the UK and USA to be with us on this speicial evening to join in this great celebration.  The club thanks all that travelled from afar and of course to the Arklow Bay Hotel, the function room looked fantastic decked out in the clubs very own red and white and for their great service.
